MUMBAI: Aasif Sheikh, who is playing the role of Vibhishan, Ravan’s brother, in the Ravan Leela sequences of Binaifer and Sanjay Kohli’s Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain, loves his role. However, it’s challenging too “He is a positive personality. It almost took me one and a half hours to get into the costume. We can’t wear the costume for long as it’s kind of uncomfortable. So, we used to take off the costume after every scene,” he says.
The actor has always been a fan of Ram Leela. “I remember when I was young, I used to go to Ram Leela and enjoy there with friends. It seemed to be a great event for us,” he says.
He feels that good will always win over evil. “We can’t deny that good always outweighs evil. Truth always prevails. I personally believe that honesty and hard work pays off at the end. May be lies help you in the present moment but in the long term, it will lead to your failure. Truth is what always prevails,” he says.
The actor hops that Ram Leela continues to be performed every year. “I think it’s our tradition and it should continue in the upcoming years. It’s the cultural heritage of our society so it should be preserved. It’s something which gives you knowledge about the path (good/evil) to be chosen and thus it also tells you the results of the path chosen by you. So, it’s a great thing and it should continue for generations and generations,” he says.
